Book your wedding suits 8 to 12 weeks before the wedding. Our delivery time is 3 to 4 weeks from measurement, but I’d rather you leave room for decisions, everyone’s schedules and a proper check of the complete outfit before the day.
I’m Rajat Nagpal, and I run Suited Booted & Co. from Langley. We’re a mobile custom tailoring business, so I come to your home or office anywhere in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. There’s no showroom to visit and no travel fee anywhere in Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore.
After the engagement: decide what you need
You don’t need to choose a lapel the moment you set a date. Start with the venue, season and dress code. A formal evening wedding and an outdoor Fraser Valley wedding in summer give us different things to consider.
Think about how much time you’ll spend outside, too. Walking between photo locations in Gastown in the rain needs a little planning beyond choosing your suit. Arrange cover and transport rather than hoping the forecast changes.
Decide who needs an outfit: just you, or the groomsmen as well? If you’re coordinating a group, get everyone involved early. Collecting availability can take longer than choosing a colour.
8 to 12 weeks out: book and make your choices
This is the booking window I recommend for weddings and groups. Your consultation is free. Bring any useful references, your wedding colours and a clear idea of what you want to spend. If you’ve already chosen your shoes or shirt, have them nearby.
We can discuss fabric, colour, lapels, trouser cut and a vest if you want one. We cut from Guabello, Scabal, Marzotto, Marzoni, VBC and Reda. A mill name alone won’t make the decision for you; consider the fabric alongside where and when you’ll wear it.
For your budget, these are our prices in Canadian dollars, before tax:
- Two-piece suit: from $697
- Three-piece suit: $850
- Tuxedo: $797
- Linen suit: from $797
- Groomsmen suits: from $647
- Custom shirt: $137
- Silk tie: $89.99
Leave room in your budget for anything you still need, including shoes. Ask questions before you commit to the order. All sales are final, so don’t rush a fabric or design decision just to tick it off your list.
At measurement: start the delivery clock
Our 3-to-4-week delivery time starts from measurement. Keep that separate from the date you first contact us when you’re working backwards from the wedding.
Tell me how you want the suit to feel, as well as how you want it to look. If you dislike close-fitting trousers or usually find jackets restrictive, say so. You’ll be sitting, eating and moving around in this outfit.
For groomsmen, keep one shared list of names, availability and outfit decisions. If someone lives out of town, flag that when you book so we can discuss the timing before you make arrangements. Don’t assume everyone will be available in the same week.
When your suit arrives: try the full outfit
Don’t put the suit away unopened until the wedding. Try it on with the shirt and shoes you plan to wear. Check the sleeve length, trouser break and vest fit if you’ve chosen one. Sit down and move around.
Take a few photos in natural light to see the colours together. If anything feels off, contact me promptly. Leaving yourself time is far better than discovering a concern the night before.
The final week: do a dress rehearsal
Put everything on once, including your tie, cufflinks and pocket square if you’re wearing them. Practise the tie knot and check that you haven’t forgotten a small item. Confirm who’s bringing the boutonnière and when it’ll arrive.
Check the care instructions before treating any creases. Avoid experimenting with an iron or steamer on wedding morning. If you’re unsure how to handle the fabric, ask first.
Wedding morning: keep the outfit ready
- Eat before you get dressed.
- Lay out your shirt, accessories and shoes before starting.
- Leave the jacket hanging while you finish getting ready.
- Put the boutonnière on last.
