The best wedding suit for you starts with where you’re getting married, how you want it to fit and what you want to spend. For a 2026 Vancouver wedding, I’d settle those questions before getting caught up in lapel shapes or lining colours.
I’m Rajat Nagpal, and I run Suited Booted & Co. in Langley. We’re a mobile custom tailoring business with no showroom. I come to your home or office anywhere in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, so we can work through your wedding suit without a trip to a shop.
Start with the day you’re actually planning
Tell me where the ceremony and reception will happen, and how much time you’ll spend outside. A summer Fraser Valley wedding calls for a different fabric discussion from an indoor evening reception in Vancouver. Think about the whole day, including photographs outside and the time you’ll spend sitting down to dinner.
Rain matters here, too. If you’re planning outdoor photographs, have a covered option and think through how you’ll get between locations. Your suit choice can’t solve the weather.
Also tell me if you want to wear the suit after the wedding. If you need something for work or other events, that should influence the colour and details we choose now.
Choose a style without chasing a trend
You don’t need a suit that announces the year you bought it. Start with a few options and narrow them down against your dress code and your own taste.
- Navy or charcoal: Start here if you want a suit you can use again. Consider the shirts and shoes you already own, too.
- A three-piece suit: Worth considering if you like the look of a waistcoat, including when your jacket comes off. Think about the extra layer if you’ll be outside in summer.
- A linen suit: An option to discuss for a summer wedding. Make sure you’re comfortable with linen’s creasing before choosing it.
- A tuxedo: Bring this into the conversation if you’re planning a black-tie wedding. Decide on the dress code before asking your groomsmen to buy anything.
If you like a check or a lighter colour, we can look at that direction as well. You don’t need to choose navy just because it’s the familiar option.
Look at fabric before choosing by name
We cut from Guabello, Scabal, Marzotto, Marzoni, VBC and Reda. When we discuss wedding fabrics, I’d rather focus on how a cloth feels and suits your plans than have you choose by a mill name alone.
There’s no single fabric weight I’d prescribe for every Vancouver wedding. Your time outdoors, the season and how warm you tend to feel all belong in that discussion. Look at the colour in daylight as well as indoors before deciding.
Pay attention to fit where you’ll feel it
A wedding suit needs to work when you move. Standing still in front of a mirror only tells you part of the story.
- Shoulders and chest: Look for a clean shoulder line and check that the jacket doesn’t pull across your chest when it’s buttoned.
- Comfort while moving: Sit down and move your arms. Tell me where you feel restricted rather than assuming a close fit should feel tight.
- Trouser length: Have your wedding shoes available when checking the hem. We can discuss how much break you prefer rather than treating one length as right for everyone.
Set the budget and give yourself time

Delivery is 3 to 4 weeks from measurement. For weddings and groups, book 8 to 12 weeks before the date to be comfortable. Don’t use the delivery window as your target for starting the conversation.
Keep the groomsmen plan clear
You can use matching fabric and give the groom a waistcoat, or agree on a shared colour direction. Decide how closely you want everyone to match before people start shopping independently.
Share the budget and wedding date with the group early. Getting everyone organised deserves space in your schedule, especially when you’re coordinating several people.
