Father’s Day: The Ultimate Custom Suit Gift for Dad

A custom suit makes a useful Father’s Day gift when Dad has a say in it. Rajat explains what to choose, what to budget and when to book a mobile fitting.

Give Dad a suit he’ll actually wear

A custom suit is a good Father’s Day gift if Dad has somewhere to wear it and gets a say in what we make. My advice: surprise him with the plan, then let him choose the suit. You can set the budget without guessing his measurements or picking a colour he wouldn’t wear.

I’m Rajat Nagpal, and I run Suited Booted & Co., a mobile custom tailoring business based in Langley. We come to your home or office anywhere in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. For Father’s Day in 2026, a two-piece custom suit starts at $697 CAD before tax.

Before you commit, think about what’s missing from his wardrobe. Does his work suit need replacing? Has he got a family wedding coming up? Or would he get far more use from a sport jacket? That’s a better starting point than choosing the most formal option.

Start with how he dresses now

You don’t need to reinvent Dad’s style. Look at the clothes he reaches for, then consider what would make getting dressed easier for him.

    • For regular suit wear: Navy or charcoal is a sensible place to start. Check what he already owns so you’re filling a gap rather than buying another version of the same suit.
    • For occasional events: A two-piece suit can cover family celebrations and dinners as well as work occasions. Think about the shirts and shoes he’ll wear with it before deciding on colour.
    • For a less formal wardrobe: A sport jacket may be the better gift. If he rarely wears matching trousers and a jacket, there’s no need to insist on a full suit.
    • For summer weddings: Consider lighter colours and discuss cloth weight. A light grey suit or linen suit might suit the occasion, but Dad should be comfortable with the look and, with linen, the creasing.

If he likes a roomier trouser or a less fitted jacket, listen to him. A gift he enjoys wearing is worth more than a cut you’ve persuaded him to tolerate.

Let him be part of the cloth decision

We cut from Guabello, Scabal, Marzotto, Marzoni, VBC and Reda. The mill name alone won’t tell you which cloth makes sense for Dad. Where he’ll wear the suit, the time of year and how often he’ll use it should guide the conversation.

A summer wedding in the Fraser Valley calls for a different discussion from a suit he’ll wear regularly through Vancouver’s cooler months. Tell me about the actual occasion rather than trying to arrive with all the answers.

It’s useful to have a favourite jacket or pair of trousers nearby at the consultation. Dad can point out what he likes and what bothers him. Perhaps a waistband feels tight when he sits, or he dislikes how a jacket pulls when he reaches forward. Those details give us something practical to discuss alongside his measurements.

Set the budget before the appointment

You can keep the cost conversation separate from Dad’s choices by getting in touch first. Here are the relevant prices, all in CAD before tax:

    • Two-piece suit from $697
    • Three-piece suit $850
    • Linen suit from $797
    • Sport jacket $597
    • Trousers $220
    • Custom shirt $137
    • Silk tie $89.99

A custom shirt is an option if a suit is outside your budget. And if you’re buying a suit, you don’t have to add a waistcoat, shirt and tie for the gift to feel complete. Start with what he needs.

All sales are final. That’s another reason to involve him before placing the order. Avoid choosing a finished garment as a surprise and assuming he can exchange it later.

We come to his home or office

There’s no showroom to visit. We arrange the consultation at his home or office, so he doesn’t have to make a separate trip into town. If home is where he can compare the cloth with his existing shirts and shoes, book there. If his office works better, we can come there instead.

There’s no travel fee anywhere in Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore. We also serve the Fraser Valley. We’re open 9am to 9pm daily, which gives you room to arrange an appointment around his schedule. Check with him before booking rather than springing a fitting on him during a busy day.

Allow time for the suit to be made

Delivery takes 3 to 4 weeks from measurement. Booking a consultation doesn’t start that clock, so plan around the measurement date if you want the finished suit ready for Father’s Day.

If you’ve left it late, give him the plan for the suit on the day and arrange the appointment together. For groups and weddings, book 8 to 12 weeks before the event to leave a comfortable margin.
